A sunny April Easter update from Copsegrove!
Hello everyone!
Hoping this finds you all well, and that the rather icy winds of the last few days disappear and some warmth creeps back in for us all to enjoy!
I remember many Easter holidays in the dim and distant past when our own children were small, enthusiastically cursing the month of March while we battled to squeeze gloves on to freezing little fingers in order to hunt for Easter eggs in the garden, in a perishing Bisley wind! It seems the Easter break can be either balmy and Bahamas- like, or positively Arctic…let’s hope it veers towards the former!?

Cows ‘n’ Calves
Our cows have been very busy, and have breezily popped out 17 fine little specimens so far (those of you coming along in April will meet them)….it’s girl power all the way here at Copsegrove, with 15 girls and only 2 boys as yet. Maybe the boys are all far too comfortable where they are, (some might say lazy!) and are yet to appear in a flurry of glory…?
Children from Bisley Blue Coat and Oakridge were the first to meet the newly borns, along with mighty proud Dad Derek Blewgi, who appears to be taking a keen interest in all his offspring! Many round bellies still to pop, and Martin and Wilf are not off bottom -watching duties yet…good job there is nothing good on telly at the moment.
Courtyard Chaos!
The chaos is diminishing day by day thanks to the continued hard work of all involved, (Thank you Russ, Jules, Ned and Wilf!). Even I, with my rather hopeless imagination when it comes to Martin’s building projects, can begin to see it taking shape, and the magic unfolding! We also now have a magnificent giant grill (created by the genius welder Martyn Little!) for Ian to cook up plenty of juicy Copsegrove burgers to keep us all well fuelled for our welly wanging efforts, not to mention a bit of Morris dancing for those feeling the urge…
Family Farm day
Preparations are well under way for our Family Farm day at the end of this month, on Sunday 26th April. We are delighted that so many of you are coming, and thank you so much for your enthusiastic support! Huge apologies to those of you who missed out and were unable to snap up tickets in time. There is a waiting list and we shall endeavour to reallocate tickets if any become available closer to the time.
Our official and highly qualified marshals for the “2026 Copsegrove Welly Wanging Olympics” have now been carefully selected, and an array of different-sized wellies are being hosed down and polished, ready for the occasion. The biggest decision that seems to keep me awake at night is which flavours of Winstone’s ice cream to go for this year…More information for ticket holders will follow nearer the day itself.
Upcoming Feast
Our next feast is on Friday May 15th when we shall go Greek for the night with the help of Mark Stavrakakis in the kitchen, and musicians Pavlos and Vasileios, on guitar, bouzouki and vocals, bringing the very special Greek Rebetiko music to the barn for the first time. Rebetiko is a music imbued with pulsating dancing rhythms, lyrical and soulful melodies, and Pavlos promises it will fill us all with hope and joy and have us dancing both in and out of our seats….

Plans almost finalised….but there will be sunshine (of course there will be…), drumming, music, and some delicious Brazilian inspired food and drink to devour whilst the sun goes down.
